BAM Ritchies: Blackwall Tunnel, London
The Blackwall Tunnel in London carries up-to 50,000 vehicles a day under the River Thames at Greenwich and is a key route in the 2012 Olympic Games transport plans.
BAM Ritchies carried out the concrete refurbishment of the tunnel which included application of sprayed concrete adjacent to each of the four ventilation shafts. Blackwall Tunnel Refurbishment
The time available to undertake the works was limited to Sunday to Thursday overnight closures, together with five weekend closures.
BAM Ritchies personnel from the Wigan offices sacrificed their ‘normal’ working arrangements to ensure the daily commute for London workers was disrupted as little as possible.
